Creative Prague Week

We discuss with representatives of the public administration and the non-profit sector about the problems of cities and their possible solutions. Creative Prague Week is held annually and always has a current overarching theme.

At public workshops and round tables, specific questions and suggestions on how to deal with these problems will be heard.

TKP Topics

  • autumn 2021/Accessibility of Prague's cultural organisations
  • winter 2022/How to develop culture and community projects in Prague
  • June 2023/Is culture an investment?
  • November 2024/Creative Education in Public Space
  • November 2025/Alternative spaces for culture in Prague

Alternative spaces for culture in Prague

The theme of TKP 2025 is Alternative Spaces for Culture in Prague. According to Cultural Policy 22+, the Community Pillar is fulfilled if the community life of the sites is still active and the open support of individual MČs to create and implement cultural events is still active. So, together we will discuss the contribution of these institutions and their possible uses. As part of the discussion, we will touch on: work with communities, cooperation of the MČ with bottom-up institutions, ways of financing, vision, future and sustainability of institutions and the problems they may face.

Creative Education in Public Space

In the first part of TKP 2024, we looked for ways to improve communication and education, inspired by Ondřej Horák, Marek Kundrata and Zuzana Jakobová with their examples and approaches. The second part of the workshop focused on the engagement of art — from interventions in public spaces to creative architecture presented by the HRA atelier. Download the methodology here.

Culture as an investment

At TKP 2023, discussions were held on pressing topics from the cultural sphere, but there was also a transfer of experience that offers possible solutions. We dealt with how to approach culture as an investment and discussed what can be done differently and better — whether within individual parts of Prague or in organizations outside the capital.

Strategic development of culture and communities

The TKP 2022 program focused on the strategic development of local culture and community life. We also presented our methodological material Cultural COMPASS. Thematic workshops were conducted by:

  • Jitka Romanov — Projects in public space and Prague plaques
  • Adam Pajgrt — Knowledge and strategies (spectrum and typology of participants in cultural events)
  • David Kašpar — Supporting actors and mediation
  • Olga Škochová Bláhová — Communication

Accessibility of cultural organizations

At six discussion meetings within the framework of TKP 2021, we investigated how contemporary cultural institutions in Prague are prepared for the interest of people with specific needs. Among the guests were representatives of the physically and visually impaired, socially disadvantaged groups, and the elderly.

The invitation was also accepted by experts and experts on accessibility and inclusivity.
