The MAPK application provides access to data on culture in Prague

What does Prague's cultural infrastructure look like? Where are cultural organizations concentrated? What are the cultural habits of Prague residents? How is cultural funding evolving? These and other questions are answered by the MAPK web application – the Prague Cultural Map, which provides clear access to data on the capital's cultural ecosystem.

The application available at mapk.cz is a data platform that systematically collects, connects, and visualizes information about culture and the cultural and creative industries in Prague. Its goal is to clarify cultural data and make it accessible in a form that is understandable to a wide range of users – from public administration and cultural organizations to the professional and general public.

Culture in data – clearly in one place

MAPK works with various types of data, such as information on cultural infrastructure or cultural funding. This allows for a better understanding of how culture functions in the context of space, time, and other connections.

In the application, you can, for example:

Thanks to visualizations and mapping tools, it is possible not only to read the data but also to explore it interactively and find connections between different sets.

What (and who) is MAPK actually for?

The application is designed to serve various groups of users.

For public administration, it can serve as supplementary material for strategic planning and data-driven decision-making. For cultural organizations, it provides better orientation within the city's cultural environment and helps in finding partners or suitable spaces for activities.

At the same time, it represents a valuable source of information for researchers, students, journalists, and anyone interested in how culture in the city functions and what its current trends are.

Part of broader work with cultural data

MAPK is one of the data projects that Kreativní Praha has been focusing on for a long time. Collecting and analyzing data on cultural infrastructure, funding, and the cultural behavior of residents allows for a better understanding of the needs of the cultural environment and helps in finding solutions for its further development. MAPK is not just a technological tool, but also part of a broader effort toward systematic data-driven work in the city's cultural policy.

About the project

MAPK is managed by the organization Creative Prague and the project belongs to the capital city of Prague, specifically the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Prague City Hall. The operator of MAPK is the municipal joint-stock company Operátor ICT, a. s.
